Kevin Hiatt is an accomplished performer and composer active in the creative traditions of American Fingerstyle Guitar/Singer Songwriter, and concert music composition. He is well known in the Kansas City area as a virtuoso performer on 6, 7, 12 string and baritone acoustic guitars. Most recently in August of 2012 he was awarded 2nd place in the Kansas Fingerstyle Guitar Competition in Lawrence, Kansas. His guitar playing has been compared to that of Leo Kottke and the late Michael Hedges. Combining his stunning instrumentals on acoustic guitars with original heartfelt vocal songs he is a maverick Americana-styled artistic original. Mr. Hiatt is also a composer of over 100 concert music works ranging from string quartets to full orchestral works. He would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with Missouri-based performing arts groups from chamber music groups to regional symphonies. A full listing of his concert music works can be found at www.kevinhiattmusic.com. Being a very experienced classroom teacher in the public schools, and higher education (colleges/universities), Mr. Hiatt would also welcome any school based community residencies.
For small venues/audiences of 75 or less Kevin Hiatt can arrive on site self-contained for sound reinforcement. For venues/audiences over 75 people or auditorium-sized spaces, a professional PA and sound technician are required for a successful concert presentation.
