Cathy and Dave play traditional and contemporary folk music, both vocal and instrumental, specializing in the cultural heritage of Missouri and the Ozarks. Their dynamic and diverse performances are renown throughout the nation. Their commitment and expertise in traditional music and folklore have led them in a variety of themes and seminars, such as Missouri history, Civil War music, songs of American rivers, Lewis & Clark music, and traditional religious music. They have taught several stringed instruments, dulcimers, banjo, guitar, and traditional found instruments. Also Available: Gumbo Bottoms: A Big Muddy Musical, a brand-new river musical written by Meredith Ludwig and Cathy Barton, is produced by the Turner Hall River Rats for the Arts in Boonville, Mo., and features twelve original songs by Cathy, with both Dave and Cathy in the four-piece string band. Ludwig based the play on oral histories she collected along the Missouri River for the Missouri River Communities Network in 2005. With a cast of six actors and a creatively portable set, the show features lively dance, humor and songs based on the folk life of the Missouri River. If your community is interested in bringing the production of Gumbo Bottoms to a theatre near you in 2009 or 2010, please contact Meredith Ludwig at 660-849-2217 or e-mail Web:
